Kyoshi Floyd has participated and demonstrated in numerous National Yamashita Affiliated Seminars. All across the country as well as demonstrations and after school seminars at local public schools and colleges.

Training under Kyoshi Knight until 1996, he became the Director and Chief Instructor of the “Mystic Dojo.” In 2000 Kyoshi Floyd joined the newly organized Yamashita-Matayoshi Kobudo system and became the first representative in New England and only one of two schools in the world to officially adopt this most pure form of Okinawan Weaponry.

In 2002, received his 4th Dan and the title of Shihan which means "Chief Instructor."

In 2007, was promoted to 5th Degree Black Belt, maintained the title of Shihan, "Chief Instructor."

In 2013, was promoted to 6th Degree Black Belt and awarded the title of Renshi, "Senior Expert Instructor."

In 2017, was promoted to 7th Degree Black Belt and awarded the title of Kyoshi, "Master Instructor."

Kyoshi Floyd has been training in the martial arts for over 25 years and a full time Karate instructor since 1992. He is a 7th degree Black Belt in Okinawan Shorin-Ryu Karatedo, and a 5th Degree Black Belt in Zen Okinawan Kobudo and has the distinct honor to have tested for his Black Belt in the birthplace or our karate system in Okinawa, Japan in 1992.

Kyoshi studied karate as a child and again as a teenager by trying different styles before finding Kyoshi Lloyd Knight who was the first Yamashita International Karate representative in New England located in Westerly, RI in 1988. Kyoshi Floyd received the majority of his training from Kyoshi Knight (now 8th Degree Black Belt) and Grandmaster Tadashi Yamashita (10th Degree Black Belt) but has had the distinct privilege to have trained with many different Senior instructors in the Yamashita Karate System.
